2023 TOURNAMENT RULES

 GOLF COMPETITION FORMAT - 2023

MAIN COMPETITION – BETTER BALLS STABLEFORD

The principal competition is NET stableford. Essentially the format will be unchanged. Players will be given three quarters of their handicaps based on the Slope Index for Strathmore which is 119 for men and 127 for women. For the first 6 holes one score will  count, two for the next 6 holes and three for the last 6 holes. Team Leaders are tasked with keeping play moving as swiftly as possible and keeping score.

Cards will be made up for each Team scorer showing where shots are available for each team member. There will be individual cards for all players to show how we have calculated their available strokes for the day. – the single Team sheet is the card that has to be handed in.

THE  MULLIGAN – is the chance for teams to purchase a MULLIGAN.  Allowable rate of 2 per person this allows players to reload their missed drives without adding penalty shots to their score. This can of course be used tactically if all drives have not been up to expectation. MULLIGANS  this year can be used for  LONGEST DRIVES – NEAREST PINS - NEAREST LINE  BUT –not for RED CROSS BALLS. The cost of a MULLIGAN is £5    Please don’t spend too much time looking for lost drives – you are part of a team!!

THE RED CROSS BALL – GROSS SCORE

Each Team will be given their yellow Red Cross Ball before setting off. This should be played hole by hole by successive members of the team, with each player using the ball for at least 4 holes. NOTE The Red Cross Ball MUST be hit off the tee by the chosen player. Thus if the ball is lost or hit out of bounds that, I am afraid, is that! There is a separate card for scoring The Red Cross Ball and there is no reason why this ball should not also count in the stableford competition. The Red Cross Ball competition is a medal competition so mark your GROSS score. The net score will be derived by using a quarter of the TEAM aggregate handicap – ie the average! Best net score wins
